The availability of single malt European varieties is quite negligible. We did however manage to sample some excellent Buchanan's, which is a brand of Scotch whisky owned by Diageo and produced in Scotland. All said and done, we recommend readers to check out our recent post on purchasing whisky duty free before you go to Mexico.
A word on wings. Mexicans have a taste for lemon and chili. They also like wings. BUT, they also make some of the best food in the world. Thus far, the top of the list has been hot and sweet tamales.
Tamales are a traditional Latin American dish made of masa (a starchy dough, usually corn-based), which is steamed or boiled in a leaf wrapper. The wrapping is discarded before eating. Tamales can themselves be filled with meats, cheese, fruits, vegetables, chilies or any preparation according to taste, and both the filling and the cooking liquid may be seasoned.
In other words, it is true ambrosia wrapped in a leaf that is totally a worthy complement to our usual wing commentary. Next time your in Mexico try one out.
